Preamble

It's been a few days since launch now, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the changes that have occurred since then. The server has been holding up far better than I expected, and resource usage remains at an acceptable level. Every player who has joined so far has been a pleasure to interact with, and I look forward to seeing how the community grows over time.

A few issues cropped on during the first few days that I wanted to address.

Issue 1: Rewards System

The original rewards system drastically underperformed. With bugs that were not well documented and issues around our bedrock players this plugin has been removed. The new rewards system, has a much nicer GUI and is far more user-friendly than the previous. You can still claim with /rewards gui except this time it works!

The time left to claim is also identified on the rank itself:

This should make it far easier for newer players, and current to understand their current position as well as their next goal.

Issue 2: Land Claims

Some issues arose with land claims, firstly its obvious that 20 chunks is not enough for players to build what they want to build. This has been increased to 50 chunks per player, with an additional 80 support chunks that players can donate to their Uji (land). This should allow players to build larger bases, and communities without having to worry about running out of space.

The claims page has been updated to reflect these changes.

Issue 3: Map

The map had not been updating as expecting, some minor changes should now help this, and you can view the map page for more information.

Closing remarks

Overall, I'm very pleased with how the server has been performing since launch. The community is friendly and welcoming, and I'm excited to see how it grows over time. If you have any suggestions or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out to the team on Discord.

Preamble

Having woken up late today there is a lot to get done for launch day! Remember we officially launch at 20:00 BST on Saturday the 20th of September 2025.

Minecraft

As the primary owner, and maintainer of Shimincraft there a few things that I need to do prior to launch:

  • Ensure the server configuration is set to as-vanilla as possible
    • Also ensuring "exploits", like TNT duping & breaking bedrock is enabled
  • Ensure users can access all their commands and utilities
    • Such as claiming, and ensuring users can /discord link themselves
  • Ensure the 3D Map has rendered everything.
  • Ensure the world has finished generating and check world borders

All of these things help ensure that the player experience is as smooth as physically possible upon launch. We do not want people leaving due to little bugs or the like.

Companion Site Updates

Map

  • Added a wiki page on the map and its usage.
  • Added extra features:
    • Such as "Ruler Measurement", allows you to measure the distance between two images when you click the ruler icon
    • Auto quality, attempts to change the resolution settings auto-magically in order to get a smooth experience

Discord

Be sure to join our Discord if you haven't done so already in order to connect with other members

The discord has been reworked a little with new roles and better permissions to hopefully make it easier for new players to understanding what is going on. I encourage users to check it out and ask for help if they have any issues with the server, tickets allow moderators like myself to keep track of issues users have, or bugs with the server. Transcripts and reports are also available to ensure everything is closed in a timely manner.

Feel free to invite people you know who want a new server to play on.

Remember you can link your minecraft & discord account with /discord link, this (👀 may or may not) carry some extra perks in the future as well!

Wiki Updates

I also continued to work on the wiki, adding some extra pages on the map as well as our player stats service!

Welcome to the new Shimincraft Wiki, and Blog! This is the first post of hopefully many more to come. This post will look into the purpose of this wiki, and how you can help contribute to it. As well as bigger plans for the server in the future.

Purpose of the Wiki

The purpose of this wiki is to give a central "Knowledge Base" for all things Shimincraft. From new-user information, to advanced guides on how to use certain features of the server. Even information on the history of the server, and its development. I hope to add a section on the wiki dedicated to specific builds on the server, and the stories behind them. Individual "Noble Shimins" will also be highlighted, and their contributions to the server documented.

This wiki is a collaborative platform, and I encourage all Shimins to contribute to it. Whether it's by adding new information, correcting existing information, or simply providing feedback on how to improve the wiki. You can find out more about contributing on the Contributing section, which will take you through the basics of adding new content to the wiki. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out on the Discord or in-game.

Future Plans for the Server

Events

To keep an active and engaged community, I plan to host regular events on the server. Using the resourcepack to its fullest potential, I hope to create fun and unique experiences for all Shimins. These events will be announced on the blog as well as the Discord Server, and I encourage all Shimins to participate in them.

Boss Fights

Over time I plan to add multiple themed bossfights, this will include, custom mobs, arenas, and loot. For larger bosses, wraps will be available to the first few players to defeat them. These will be unique wraps, not available anywhere else on the server.

These boss fights will be designed to be beaten by groups and solo players. Some will be easier than others, but all will be fun and challenging.

Taking inspiration from RPG style games, these bosses will have unique mechanics and abilities, possibly even phases to them as well. The kind of loot expected will also vary from boss to boss. But they will all be harder than the vanilla Minecraft bosses.

Of course if you want that ✨ Vanilla Experience ✨, you don't have to take part, these are purely optional, and all bosses will be in separate worlds.

Seasonal Events

To keep things fresh, I plan to host seasonal events, while there is not enough time this year for a Halloween event, I plan to release a Christmas event in December. This will include a special Christmas-themed boss fight, as well as other fun activities and rewards.

Planned Future Features

  • Player Shops: A more advanced player shop system, allowing for better trading and economy
    • Currently, there is no method of "shops" for a player, I need to investigate existing solutions for this and see what fits best with the server.
    • For now shops can be created through trading with Diamonds! Moderators are able to help you check if you feel your shop has been stolen from.
  • More Custom Mobs: Adding more custom mobs to the server, both hostile and passive.
    • This will include more custom bosses, as well as custom mobs for the overworld, nether, and end.
    • These mobs will be designed to fit the theme of the server, and will provide new challenges and rewards for players.

There are many more ideas in my head, but these are the primary ones I want to achieve in the earlier days of the server. If you have any suggestions or ideas, feel free to reach out on the Discord or in-game to share your thoughts.
